Where does a multistate license work?

40 states are in the Nurse Licensure Compact. A multistate license from any of them lets you work in all the others. 10 jurisdictions are not, and Massachusetts has passed the compact but it is not in effect yet. Tap a state for details.

What you'll find for each state

Renewal

How often you renew, when your license expires, the fee and how many CE hours you need, including required topics like implicit bias or opioid prescribing.

Endorsement

Getting licensed when you move: the application fee, fingerprint rules and whether you can start work on a temporary permit while you wait.

Sources and dates

Every page links to the board's own pages and shows when it was last checked. When we can't confirm a value, we say so instead of guessing.
